Biography
I have been a lecturer in health-related social sciences, in the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Sciences, since 2004. My areas of expertise are in the social determinants of health (e.g., gender, socio-economoc status, ethnicity), environmental determinants of health (e.g., climate change, pollution, ecosystems) and research methods and stats (qualitative and quantitative). I lecture on the BA (hons) Health Promotion and BA (Hons) Exercise & Health, and I am and Assistant Programme leader for the BA (hons) Health Promotion. As a mother of two young boys my leisure time is limited but I am a competitive triathlete, club cyclist, trail runner and open-water swimmer. In a past life, and when time permits in my current one, I like to rock climb, mountaineer (Ireland, Scotland, Alps), sea kayak, mountain bike and sing (in a choir).
