Biography
Alejandro Bernal is executive vice president and group president for Strategy, Commercial and Business Development, with responsibility for new and complementary global businesses within Zoetis. Alejandro previously served as area president of the Europe, Africa and Middle East Region for Zoetis. He held the same position for this region in the Pfizer Animal Health organization since 2010.​ Alejandro joined Pfizer Animal Health in 2000 and worked in positions of increasing responsibility, including swine product manager for Northern Latin America, division director for Central America and Colombia, and regional director of the South West Central Latin America region. In 2007, he became a member of the Pfizer Animal Health Leadership Team as Area President for the Canada and Latin America region. Before joining Pfizer, Alejandro worked two years managing a large dairy for Aurora Dairy Corporation in Colorado, USA. From 2008 to 2010 Alejandro was a member of the board of directors of The Resource Foundation, a U.S. nonprofit organization that works to provide better sustainable opportunities for poor rural communities in Latin America. In February 2011, Alejandro became a member of the Council for the International Federation of Animal Health for Europe (IFAH Europe) and in July of the same year, he was elected chairman for the 2011-13 term. IFAH Europe is the trade association for the animal health industry in the Europe, Africa and Middle East region. ​Alejandro holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Universidad de Caldas (Colombia), a master's degree in physiology from Texas A&M University (USA), and a Master of Business Administration from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) and Manchester Business School (UK).
