Biography

I am a senior manager of the Cloud Platforms department in IBM Research - Haifa. The department activities cover all aspects of Cloud IaaS, including Compute, Storage, Datacenter Networking, Security and Data Services for Analytics. I am also a Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM), specializing in storage and big data services. In my previous role I managed the Storage Research group, and worked extensively on cloud object stores. We continue to focus on adding advanced capabilities and higher level functions to IBM's storage offerings. I specialize in storage features for next generation storage systems, such as cloud storage, data reduction techniques, long term digital preservation, power-efficient storage systems. I worked on a wide spectrum of security-related technologies, including internet security, content protection, and storage security. My past academic research includes Bioinformatics and combinatorial optimization. I hold M.Sc and PhD degrees from the University of California, Davis, and a B.Sc. degree from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, all in computer science.
