Aviad Maizels

Biography

Aviad Maizels, a Weizmann Institute alumnus, was co-founder and director of PrimeSense Ltd., a 3D sensing company that provides products in the area of sensory inputs for consumer and commercial markets, with offices in Israel,North America, Japan, Singapore, Korea, China, and Taiwan. In 2013, the company was bought by Apple Inc. In 2011, he was named by The Marker Magazine as one of the Israel’s top young leaders of tomorrow and in 2013, he received the World Economic Forum’s Technological Pioneer award. A year later, Business Insider Tech named him one of the most influential Israelis in tech, worldwide. Aviad served in an elite intelligence unit in the IDF as head of a technological R&D section. He holds a BSc cum laude in computer science from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and an MSc from the Weizmann Institute in applied mathematics and computer science, conducted under the guidance of Prof. Adi Shamir. Today, Aviad is engaged in promoting initiatives in biotech and energy. His vision,management skills, connections, and extensive technological experience are key forces that will highly benefit the Institute’s International Board. Aviad is a member of the Weizmann Institute Alumni Organization and WeizmannVibe, the young club of the Israeli Association of Friends of the Weizmann Institute of Science. He is married to Nirit and has two children.
