Prof. Yeshayahu (shai) Katz

Biography

Prof. Katz is Director of the Department of Anesthesiology, Rambam Medical Center and is also a professor at the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Previously Prof. Katz served as the Director of the Department of Anesthesiology, HaEmek Medical Center, Afula. He was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology, Hermann- Memorial Hospital of the University of Texas, Houston. His main area of research is the pharmacology of anesthetic agents and apoptosis of neuronal cells in the central nervous system. He has published over 85 scientific articles, and serves on the review board of several leading scientific journals. Prof. Katz has received numerous grants and was awarded the Hershel Rich Technion Innovation Prize. Prof. Katz received his MD from Hadassah Medical School, Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He completed his residency at Rambam Medical Center and received a DSc in the Medical Sciences from the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Technion.
