Research Interest
Reasoning processes associated with overcoming difficulties in science and mathematics and their brain correlates. Interventions aimed at helping students overcome these difficulties. Research methods: Behavioral, cognitive and brain imaging (EEG and fMRI) Projects in the lab include: Exploring the behavioral, cognitive, developmental aspects, and brain correlates of overcoming interference of a salient quantity on judgment/comparison of another quantity, such as the interference of the salient quantity ‘area’ to perimeter comparison. Assessing the effects of different types of interventions aimed at helping students overcome such interference. Exploring the behavioral, cognitive, developmental aspects, and brain correlates of difficulties in proportional reasoning. Assessing the effects of different types of interventions aimed at helping students overcome difficulties in proportional reasoning.
