David Broday

Biography

Prof. David Broday recieved D.Sc. from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technion, in 1996. He then did one year postdoctoral research in the Levich Institute, CCNY, CUNY, New York, working on biophysics at the cellular level and 3 years of postdoctoral fellowship in the Computational Chemodynamics Laboratory, Exposure Measurement and Assessment Division, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI), Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ. In the latter position he studied lung dosimetry of respirable ambient particulate pollutants and multipathway exposure to soluable and volatile organic pollutants. In 2001 he joind the Faculty of Civil and Environmetnal Engineering, Technion, Israel. Prof. David Broday is an expert in air pollution and aerosol physics and has an extensive experience in exposure assessment to single and multiple stressors and in enviroinformatics. In 2011 he established the Technion Center of Excellence in Exposure Science and Environmentl Health and since then he directs the Center.

Research Interest

His main research interests are as follows: • Air pollution – modeling emissions transport and dispersion, source allocation, studying spatiotemporal scales and variability captured in air quality monitoring data, dust phenomena, abatement technologies • Aerosol and atmospheric physics – satellite and ground remote sensing, revealing footprints of meteorological phenomena in air quality data, wireless distributed sensing, aerosol deposition and removal • Exposure to ambient pollutants - dosimetry of inhalable pollutants, exposure modeling, applications of GIS for exposure assessment, incorporation of ICT data for exposure estimation
