Biography

Sergio Dompé Chairman Born in Milan on 14 October 1955, Sergio Dompé is President of the namesake biopharmaceutical Group, whose main business involves the development of innovative therapeutic solutions for rare diseases, which often lack any form of treatment. An entrepreneur in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries, he is awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Biotechnology with specialisation in pharmaceutics (Bologna) in 1996, in Medical Biotechnology (L’Aquila) in 2005 an in Pharmacy (Urbino) in 2010. One of the first in Italy to have grasped the true value of biotechnology applied to human health, Sergio develops an extensive network of partnerships with the most significant Research Centres for diseases in the therapeutic fields that are Dompé’s main focus. To date, Dompé has consolidated his efforts in R&D by sponsoring 21 clinical trials involving 1,200 patients worldwide, conducted thanks to partnerships with an international network of 200 research centres. In 2016, Dompé funds and establishes Movendo, an innovative medical company born from an idea of the Italian Institute of Technology to develop the most advanced technologies at the service of man and products in the field of physical movement rehabilitation. In 2016, Sergio Dompé was awarded the Prize of the Foundation Aiuti per la Ricerca sulle Malattie Rare (A.R.M.R.) [Financial Aid to Research on Rare Diseases], an award given to persons who have distinguished themselves for their commitment in research, even as a way of life. In 2017 Dompé was awarded with the Italian wellknown prize Guido Carli. Institutional Offices held From 1998 to 2004: President of Assobiotec.Since 2004, anchor investor in Philogen, a leader in the research and development of antibodies.From 2005 to 2011: President of Farmindustria.From 2006 to 2011: Chairman of the Evaluation Committee of the CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) [National Research Council].From 2007 to 2015: Member of the Board of the IIT Foundation (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) [Italian Institute of Technology]. From 2014 to 2016: Member of the Patent Experts Committee of the CNR.
