Biography

Dr Iñaki Eguileor currently works as an assessor of national and international organisations which require accreditation in accordance with ISO standards in the food, feed and environmental sectors, such as laboratories and inspection bodies. He has been an independent consultant in the organisation, quality assessment and accreditation of laboratories since 1996. Dr Eguileor sits on advisory committees of the Proficiency Testing Programmes of FERA (the UK’s Food and Environment Research Agency), FAPAS (analytical chemistry proficiency testing scheme in the food sector) and FEPAS (proficiency testing for food microbiology). With scientific experience in the fields of food analysis, nutrition, metabolic diseases and risk assessment, Dr Eguileor also sits on other national and international committees, working groups, research projects and lectures at a number of universities. From 1994 to 1999, he was an international consultant for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and a member of the Steering Group of the European forum FLEP (the Food Law Enforcement Practitioners) from 1990 to 2006. Dr Eguileor worked in the Health Department of the Basque government in Spain from 1982 to 1996, with positions as biochemical analysis specialist, head of Reference Public Health Laboratory and Public Health Director. He attained his PhD in Pharmacy at Madrid’s Complutense University, an MSc in Chemistry at the University of Valladolid and an MSc in Public Health at the Basque Country University.
