Biography

Mara Swan was appointed ManpowerGroup’s Executive Vice President, Global Strategy and Talent, in January 2009. In February 2014, Swan also assumed global brand leadership for the Right Management business. Since joining the company as Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources in 2005, Swan has had a significant impact shaping business strategy and talent development. A recognized expert in Human Resources, Swan is regularly featured as a speaker at high profile events, including the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos and is a member of the Gender Parity Steering Committee for the World Economic Forum Future of Education, Gender and Work Initiative.  She sits on the Executive Committees of the Peer Round Table for CHROs and the HR Policy Association, where she also currently leads the Association’s Talent Sustainability Initiative.  Swan is passionate about industry topics such as women in leadership, Millennials in the workforce and skill development. In December 2015 she authored the report, “Seven Steps to Conscious Inclusion: A Practical Guide to Accelerating More Women Into Leadership” and in May 2016 the report, “Millennial Careers: 2020 Vision.” Swan is a regular contributor to the World Economic Forum blog and has recently co-authored articles for Harvard Business Review and Fast Company with Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, offering advice to foster learnability in the workplace. Swan is on the Board of GOJO Industries Inc., and became a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR) in 2012. She is Compensation Committee Chairman of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, a member of the University at Buffalo School of Management Dean’s Advisory Council, and sits on the Advisory Board of the Alverno College School of Business. In recognition of her success, she was recently named one of the15 Most Powerful Women in HR by Human Resource Executive magazine. The same publication named her HR Executive of the Year in 2012.
