Biography
Yimin Ye is Chief of the Marine and Inland Fisheries Branch at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. He obtained his PhD in fishery assessment and management from Imperial College, UK. He has worked on fisheries for 30 years and now is leading the FAO’s World Marine Fisheries Sustainability Monitoring Program and responsible for a diverse range of fishery assessment, management and policy programs. Yimin worked at Shanghai Ocean University, China, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Australia. He has published about 60 peer-reviewed papers, and the most recent are “The global overview of marine fishery resources”, “Rebuilding global fisheries: the World Summit Goal, costs and benefits”, and “Global fishing capacity and fishing effort from 1950 to 2012”.
