Biography
Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano was born in Brescia in 1947. A law graduate by the age of 23, he is married with two children and lives in Rome. He began his working career in Personnel at Sip S.p.A., where he went on to become Group Personnel Manager (80,000 employees) in 1989. From December 1992 to May 1994, as CEO of Iritel S.p.A., he took on the task of transforming the old state company into a new company that would then merge with Telecom Italia, completing the restructuring of the company in only 18 months. From 1994 to 1997, Tommasi was General Manager of Telecom Italia, responsible for the International, Business Customer and Residential Customer Divisions. In 1997, as CEO of STET, he successfully completed the merger of the company with Telecom Italia, a group with 126,000 people and revenues of USD 24 billion. In 1997, he was appointed CEO of Telecom Italia and oversaw the Group’s full privatisation. From 1999 to 2002, he held the post of CEO of the multiutility ACEGAS S.p.A. and managed its privatisation through an initial public offering. Since November 2002, Di Vignano has been at the helm of the Hera Group and as Executive President managed the process of listing the company on the stock exchange, which took place in June 2003. The Group has a market capitalisation of approximately EUR 2.9 billion, revenues of over EUR 4,500 million and more than 8,200 employees on permanent contracts.
