Biography
Dr Carlo Cipolla, director of the division of cardioncology at the IEO, the number of people who have or will develop heart problems while they are suffering from cancer is rising due to reductions in cancer mortality rates and improvements in the effectiveness of care. He added: "Such patients undergoing either chemotherapy alone or in combination with other types of treatment should be protected from the possible effects on the cardiovascular system." Dr Cipolla went on to say that this has created the need for a physician with dual expertise in oncology and cardiology.
