Research Interest
comparative morpho-functional character traits aimed at highlighting the range of functional types and ecological strategies within vascular plants as well as developing methodologies that can be used to identify them; use of non-phylogenetic classifications (functional types and ecological strategies) for the interpretation of ecosystemic functions and vegetation processes such as coexistence and dominance within plant communities, the effects of disturbance, stress and abandonment, sequences dynamics, the relationship between biomass and biodiversity and the cycle of elements, with particular reference to carbon; use of the morpho-functional characteristics of the leaves for the understanding of the relationship between plants and organic pollutants and for the development of pollutant circulation patterns; use of morpho-functional characters of dipersules (spores, seeds and fruits) in the study of dispersion, including that in time (soil seed banks);
