Biography
In 1997 Monaldo Mastrolilli graduated with honors in Computer Science Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy), under the supervision of Prof. Giorgio Guariso and Prof. Luca Maria Gambardella; in the same year he won a prize in the Whizzkids'97 competition on combinatorial optimization, designed by Prof. Dr. J.K. Lenstra and Prof. Dr. Emile Aarts from the Technical University of Eindhoven. In 2002 he received a summa cum laude Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at University of Kiel (Germany), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Klaus Jansen. He joined IDSIA as a PhD student in 1998. Since 2004 he hold a permanent position as senior researcher at IDSIA. he is Professor at the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland since 2009. Leader of the Algorithms and Complexity Group at IDSIA.
Research Interest
Research interest in Scheduling problems, approximation algorithms, combinatorial optimization, complexity theory.
