Biography
Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan in 1976. Specializing in Oncological Surgery in 1982 for thirty years at the National Institute for Care and Study of Tumors in Milan he has been dealing with all of the oncological surgical pathology (surgery thoracic, gynecology, melanomas, cervical-facial surgery, abdominal surgery) and then, in the late 1980's, devote exclusively to the pathology of the rectal colon. He is currently chairing the complex structure of colorectal surgery at the IRCCS National Institute and the Studio of Tumors in Milan, a department in Italy devoted to the study and treatment of this disease. Speaker of the most important international congresses. He is a member of the SSO (US Oncological Society). Since 1996, he has been the Chairman of the International Symposium on Cervical Cancer Conservation. He is also a member of the Oncology Commission of the Lombardy Region since 1996. In 1997 he founded ARECO onlus (Association for European Research in Oncological Surgery), of which he is Chairman. Since February 2002 he has been a Master of Specialization in Color Surgery, of which he is Director.
Research Interest
His research activity of the Structure is aimed at the following areas: Conservative surgical treatment of distal rectal cancer, saving sphincters, Multi-mode treatment of peritoneal carcinoma, using cytotoxic surgical techniques and chemio-hyperthermia-intraperitoneal (HIPEC), Development and optimization of the integrated treatment of primitive and secondary peritoneal pathologies.
