Fernando Ravagnani

Biography

Fernando Ravagnani graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1979 at the University of Padua. In 1983 he specialized in Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine (University of Ferrara, 1983) and in Hematology (University of Ferrara, 1986). Since 1980 he has been working in the SIMT (Immune Hematology and Transfusion Medicine Service) Foundation of the IRCCS Foundation, the National Institute of Tumors of Milan, of which he has been Director since November 2000. The dr. Ravagnani has participated and participates in numerous research projects in the field of immunology in an oncology field. In particular, it has developed, among the first in Italy, aferetic methodologies for collecting hematopoietic progenitors circulating for autologous and allogeneic transplantation in both adult and pediatric patients. He holds and holds important roles and positions in Scientific Societies and Technical Commissions in the Regional and National Areas; He was Vice President of the Italian Society of Emaferesis and Cellular Manipulation (SidEM) from 2009 to 2011 and a member of the Italian Society of Transfusion and Immunotherapy (SIMTI) and of the Italian Group of Italian Bone Marrow Transplantation (GITMO). He was also Director of the Blood Donors Association of the National Cancer Institute (ADSINT) from 1986 to 2009.
