Biography
Jane Hughes received her PhD in molecular immunology from Keele University, prior to joining SmithKline Beecham (and GlaxoSmithKline [GSK] post-merger). There, she led a range of small molecule projects targeting inflammatory and neurodegenerative mechanisms, with a particular interest in pain research. At GSK, she managed the target identification and validation group, responsible for prosecuting novel mechanisms of action and developing cell-based pharmacological assays. She later moved to MedImmune, Cambridge, UK, where she led the CNS Cell Biology group developing novel biologics for CNS disorders.
