Biography
Born in 1956, full professor in General and Inorganic Chemistry (1/2005 on), author/coauthor of about 150 refereed papers, 3 book chapters and a patent (H-index 25, WOS and Scopus). Awarded in 2015 for excellence in university teaching by the Faculty of Math, Phys and Natur. Sciences of La Sapienza. His interests are on the application of conventional and synchrotron-excited photoemission and related techniques to research topics in chemistry. Visiting scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1987, '88 and '89. He has been local responsible in both a Science (1992-95) and a Human Capital & Mobility (1994-'96) European research project on metal clusters; national (2003-05 and 2005-07) and local (1997-99, 2000-02) responsible in previous MIUR National Projects. A member of the ELETTRA review committee on Surface and Interfaces (2004-10); Expert for evaluation of project applications and monitoring of the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programme of EU; A referee for several scientific journals and a project referee for ASI-Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, MIUR and other National Research Institutes. His research topics can be summarized as: Photoemission studies of molecule-surface interaction, coordination compounds, molecular clusters and nanoparticles, supported catalysts; Synchrotron radiation-excited photoemission studies on: High-Tc superconductors, organic and organometallic overlayers adsorbed on semiconductors, heterojunctions, metal overlayers on semiconductors; EXAFS studies of supported clusters and nanoparticles; XPD studies on ultrathin layers of transition metal oxides on metal surfaces.
