Biography

Delia Goletti MD, PhD, Infectious Diseases specialist. In 1992 she joined the Laboratory of Immunoregulation at the National Institutes of Health,Bethesda, USA (chief Dr Fauci) working on the pathogenesis of HIV. In 1996 started working in Italy at the Virology  Laboratory of Istituto Superiore di Sanità (chief Dr. Ensoli) on HIV, SIV, SHIV and evaluating the immune effects of an HIV vaccine in monkeys. In 1999 she joined the National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome (scientific chief: Dr Ippolito) as permanent physician employee. At the Health Clinical Department she worked on HIV disease, tuberculosis, hepatitis, respiratory and neurological diseases. In 2006 she joined the Epidemiology Department (chief Dr Girardi) keeping the clinical duties on the Tuberculosis clinic. From 2001 she is responsible of the Translational Research Unit and works on tuberculosis pathogenesis and on immunodiagnostic tests for tuberculosis.
