Biography
Graduated in Chemistry in 1962. From 1964 to 1967 he was Director of Pharmaceutical Production at Sclavo S.p.A. and, from 1967 to 1983 he established and directed the Sclavo Research Center (Chiron, now Novartis). From 1966 to 1990 he was professor and researcher at the University of Siena. From 1966 to 1983 he served as member of the board of directors of Sclavo S.p.A. and, from 1972 to 1975, as chairman. From 1987 to 2005 he held the position of General Manager of the Consorzio Siena Ricerche, and from 2001 to 2004 he was member of the board of directors at the University of Siena on behalf of the academic body.
