Biography
"Riccardo Palma is Assistant Professor in Architectural and Urban Composition at the Department of Architectural and Industrial Design of the Polytechnic of Turin (DIPRADI) where he teaches in the domain of architectural design. He is also a member of the Doctorate in Architecture and Building Design of Polytechnic of Turin (DAPe). His research activity, inserted in the research group of Giancarlo Motta, focuses on architectural design procedures with particular reference to the relationship between the cartographic representation of site and project architectures and the modalities of theory writing in architecture. He has published several essays in Italy and in foreign countries. Between the most recent there is Détournements. Les figures de cartographiques de la géographie dans le projet architecural (in Aa Vv, Figures de la Ville et Construction des Savoirs, CNRS Editions, Paris 2005). About these topics he has written the book The Cartographic Imagination of Architecture (Tecnograph, Bergamo 2002), and has edited some books as Architecture, Written Space (UTET, Torino 2001) and Hidden Machines. Disciplines and techniques of representation in architectural composition (UTET, Turin 2004)."
