Biography
He is a Director, Clinical Hematology; Director, Sickle Cell Program, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School. Dr Heeney received his M.D. at the University of Calgary, Alberta. His residency was completed at Montreal Children’s Hospital, McGill University and a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Duke University. Dr. Heeney’s research interests are sickle cell disorders and treatment, iron homeostasis in humans, and genetic basis of iron resistant iron deficiency.
