Biography
Research activities at the Second University of Naples, Department of Experimental Medicine, mainly involving the design, development and characterization of polymeric materials for biomedical applications. Skills in polymerization techniques, development of semi-interpenetrated and interpenetrated polymeric networks, derivatization and crosslinking of macromolecules (especially naturally occurring polysaccharides), chemico-physical characterization of linear polymers and polymeric networks (FT-IR, UV-VIS, NMR; DSC; swelling; rheological behavior), in vitro characterization of the biological response to materials (cytotoxicity, cytocompatibility, cell adhesion and proliferation on material surface, morphological investigation by optical microscopy, SEM, TEM, time-lapse videomicroscopy)
Research Interest
Design, Development and Characterization of Polymer-based Biomaterials intended for Biomedical use. Polymeric scaffolds for tissue engineering purposes (i.e. cartilage, bone, skin regeneration), Medical Device for application in aesthetic medicine (i.e. dermal fillers)
