Biography
Born in 1954 in San Vito dei Normanni, Puglia, Marcello Longo burst onto the gastronomic scene in the 1970s while living in the region of Alto Adige. Coordinator of the Presidia and Terra Madre food communities in Puglia, he is also regional editor of Slow Food Editore’s Guida agli Extravergini (Extra-Virgin Olive Guide). Since 2013, he has been a Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity councilor and in 2014 he was nominated Slow Food Italy National Councilor. He is creator and coordinator of the seafood and Earth Markets in Torre Guaceto in Puglia, and since 2000 has collaborated with a number of organizations that manage protected areas, both nationally and in Puglia, ensuring the protection and promotion of the local eco-gastronomy.
