Biography
Dr Shaarawy is the author of 48 peer-reviewed articles and severs the editorial board of International Journal of Ophthalmology, International Glaucoma Review and Journal of Glaucoma. His main research interests are surgical techniques of Glaucoma surgery, normal pressure glaucoma, and glaucoma patterns of practice in developed and developing countries. Dr Shaarawy is affiliated with numerous societies, including: Secretary General International Society of Glaucoma Surgery; Associate Executive Vice president of World Glaucoma Association (WGA); Associate Advisory Board Member of International Glaucoma Society Representative Committee; Glaucoma Program Committee Member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS); Founding Member Glaucoma Club of the Egyptian Ophthalmological Society; and Founding and Executive Committee of Pan Arab African Glaucoma Society.
