Research Interest
1) Study of the complex interaction between microorganisms and host cell. Analysis of the virulence bacterial factor, the molecular mechanism that support bacterial adhesion, invasion and apoptosis, signals trasduction and immunomodulation. Response of human keratinocytes to different strains of Malassezia. 2) Study of natural molecules of microbic or vegetal origin on the modulation of innate immunity: Toll like receptor analysis in the immune innate defence of the host 3) Role of natural molecules of microbic or vegetal origin on tumoral and cancer stem cells. Identification of new molecules of microbic origin able to contrast tumoral growth. 4) Study of virulence factors of Helicobacter pylori involved in the cell growth and gastric carcinoma progression: role played by CagA, VacA and HspB in the activation of proinflammatory responce, tumoral progression and regulation of the transcriptional factor Nrf2. 5) Pseudomonas fluorescens, potential opportunistic pathogen: biofilm and interaction of P. fluorescens to human epithelial lung cells. 6) Virus and tumors: analysis of viral sequences in human skin tumors and their role in the tumoral progression.
