Biography
Giuseppe De Rosa was born in Casoria (Naples) - Italy on July 1, 1959. He is a researcher in Animal production at the Department of Agriculture ( Department of Agriculture ) of the University of Naples "Federico II". Giuseppe since 1985 has centered his research activity on farm animal behavior and welfare. An extensive part of his work was related to behavior, housing and welfare. He has gained experience on the utilization and analysis of physiological, immune, behavioral, health and productive indicators of animal welfare. At the European level, he was involved as a national expert in ACTION 846 "Measuring and Monitoring Farm Animal Welfare" in the Working Group of COST (European Co-operation in the Field of Scientific and Technical Research). He was involved in the European Welfare Quality® project (www.welfarequality.net) aimed at developing European standards for on-farm welfare assessment. At national level he is involved in the Italian Center for Animal Welfare.He headed a Research Unit participating in a project on organic farming funded by the Marche Region. Since 1990 he has joined the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE). His research activity is documented by more than 100 papers published mostly on international journals. His research work is integrated with intense academic activities.
