Biography
1986-1990 Student at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Naples "Federico II". 1988-1990 Internal student at the Department of Experimental Pharmacology. 1990 Completion of Pharmacy Degree, "summa cum laude", discussing a thesis titled "Anti-inflammatory activity of some synthetic peptides derived from lipocortin".
Research Interest
Essentially, scientific production can be summarized in 6 fundamental research lines: 1. Role of 'gasotransmitters' Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and Nitric Oxide (NO) in inflammatory and immune processes and cancerogenesis. 2. Role of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and COX-2 transcription factor in inflammation, vascular damage and cancer. 3. Role of Heat Shock Factor 1 (HSF1) transcription factor and cyclopentenone prostaglandins (cyPG) in inflammatory processes and vascular damage 4. Role of transcription factor "Peroxisome Proliferator-activated Receptor -γ" (PPAR-γ) in inflammatory processes. 5. Immuno-pharmacology studies 6. Pharmacological investigations on natural and synthetic products.
