Izzo Angelo Antonio

Biography

Graduated in CTF, over the years has taught at the Faculty / Department of Pharmacy (University of Naples Federico II), Pharmacognosy, Phytotherapy, Plant Biology and Applied Pharmacology. It is from 2014 Ordinary Professor in the competition sector 05 / G1 (pharmacology, clinical pharmacology and pharmacognosy). He is currently deputy director of the Department of Pharmacy, coordinator of the 2nd level master 'Preclinical and clinical development of medication and post-marketing monitoring' and of the three-year degree course in herbal sciences. He is a teaching professor of the Doctoral School of Ph.D. in Medicine Science (University of Naples Federico II). He has spent periods of research abroad (Inserm U200, Paris, Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia, University of Exeter, UK). He is a member of editorial committees of numerous international journals. In particular, it is "Senior Editor" of the "British Journal of Pharmacology", "Specialty Chief-Editor" of "Frontiers in Pharmacology" and "Editor-in-Chief of Phytotherapy Research". He was awarded the "Alberico Benedicenti" (2002) Prize for Best Practice in Pharmacology and International Cannabinoid Research SOciety for the award "ICRS Young Investigator Award" (2006) He was appointed by ANVUR as a GEV member (Evaluation Expert Groups) for VQR (Research Quality Assessment) 2004-2010. It is among the 55 Italian researchers included in the list of "Most Influential Scientific Minds: 2014" (Highly Cited Researcher, Thomson Reuters 2014) or among researchers who, according to their published 2002 and 2012, are '' influencing the future direction of their fields of research ''. It is the authors of patents concerning the use of non-psychotropic phytocannabinoids as antitumor and in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. It has been invited many times to present the results of its scientific research to international congresses. He is a member of the 2003 Group of Social Promotion Associations that brings together the Italian scholars listed in the most cited researchers in the scientific literature of all disciplines (www.gruppo2003.org) He was awarded, for scientific merits, by the honor of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy by Head of State Sergio Mattarella (2017)
