In November 1977 he graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", bringing the vote of 110/110 and praise. Silvia Bonaccorsi was born in Montecatini Terme (Pistoia) on 31-7-1954. In November 1977 he graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", bringing the vote of 110/110 and praise. After graduation he continued to attend the laboratories of the Institute of Genetics of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", carrying out didactic and research activities. In 1982 he won a CNR competition for a research post and took up service at CNR's Evolutionary Genetic Center. In 1983, winner of an EMBO short term fellowship, works for 3 months at the Dept. of Genetics at Catholic University, Njimegen. In 1986 he worked for 3 months at Dept. of Entomology, CSIRO, Canberra. In 1992, winner of an EMBO short-term fellowship, worked for two months at Centro de Investigaciones Biologicas, CSIC, Madrid. In 2002 he won a CNR competition for a first researcher, and first served at CNR's Evolutionary Genetics Center and, since 2003, at the CNR Institute of Molecular Biology and Pathology. In 2005 it was suitable for a competition of the first band, Bio / 18-GENETICA disciplinary sector, banned by the University of Ferrara. From 1-11-2007 to 30-06-2010 is a professor of first-degree at the I Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the "Sapienza" University of Rome. From 1-7-2010 he is a professor of first tier at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences of the "Sapienza" University of Rome. Main scientific interests The scientific activity of S. Bonaccorsi has so far focused on two aspects of cell biology, which have been dealt with different approaches and materials: 1. structure and function of the heterochromatin 2. genetic control of cell division EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 1977: Laurea (Degree) cum laude in Biology, University of Rome "La Sapienza" 1978-1982: University fellow, University of Rome "La Sapienza" (no form Ph.D. program available in Italy until 1983. 1982-2001: CNR researcher at CNR Evolutionary Genetics Center 1983: Recipient of an EMBO short term fellowship for a three-month training in Dr. W.
