Alessandro Monno

Biography

Alessandro Monno graduated from Natural Sciences at the University of Bari in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petrography. He has collaborated with the Archaeological Superintendence of Apulia for museological and archeozoological research (from 1992 to 1995). He has collaborated with the Archaeological Museum of Altamura, carrying out museological and archeozoological research activities as well as didactic activities (1993-94). He has collaborated with the University of Lecce for field-directed anthropological research (Vaste-Lecce) using the methods and applications of physical anthropology in archeology. Scientific collaboration was carried out with the funding of Operational Unit No.1 of the CNR strategic project, led by Prof. F. D'Andria. (July 1993). In 1994 he won a scholarship in Scientific Museology, where he attended the following internships at: Museum of History of Science and Technology in Florence; The Cité de Sciences et de l'Industrie de Paris; Palais de la Decouverte in Paris; The City of Science of the Idis-Naples Foundation; At the end of the course, a multimedia essay entitled "X-rays in Science and Art" was produced. He has been the winner of a public competition for 1 position as a Museum Conservative at the Department of Geomineralism of this University and has held this role from 1 September 1995 to 31 December 2003. Since 1995 he has collaborated with the research and teaching activities of CISMUS (Interdepartmental Center for Services for Scientific Museology). In 2003 he was the winner of a public competition for 1 post of Researcher Confirmed in Mineralogy (Geo / 06) at the Faculty of Mathematics. Fis. and Nat. of the University of Bari, and is still in service since January 1, 2004. Since the academic year 2005/2006 until 2007/08 he has taught Gemmologici Materiali and Lab for the Degree Specialized in Geological Sciences of the University. From Bari. From the academic year 2006/2007 to today it is formalized the reliance of the teaching of Museology for the Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Heritage Sciences and Technology of the University of Bari. From 2009 to present he is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Interuniversity Research Center "Seminar of History of Science" of the University of Bari. Since the academic year 2004/2005, he has been the Head of Science at the University of Bari Earth Sciences Museum .
