Biography

Giuseppe Campesi, received the MA in Sociology of Law from the International Institute for the Sociology of Law and Ph.D. in Philosophy and Sociology of Law at the State University of Milan. He was awarded research from 2007 to 2010 at the Department of Theory and History of Law at the University of Florence, as well as Jean Monnet Post-Doctoral Fellow in the AI. 2010/2011 at the European University Institute. He was also a visiting researcher at the Center d'Études des Normés Juridiques of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris (2006); at the Instituto de Investigaciones Juridicas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2007); at the Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires and the Centro de Estudios Legales y Sociales, in Buenos Aires (2008); at the Observatory of the Penal System y los Derechos Humanos of the Universidad de Barcelona (2015). He is a member of the editorial team of the journal "Studies on Criminal Issues", as well as a contributor to Jura Gentium magazine. Philosophy Review of International Law and Global Politics ". He is a member of the interdisciplinary research group "Prevention, Deviation and Control", headquartered at the University of Padua, as well as the Laboratory of Critical Studies on Forced Migration "ESCAPES", headquartered at the University of Milan. He is among the founders of the Observatory on the administrative detention of immigrants and the reception of asylum seekers in Puglia .

Research Interest

His research interests concern contemporary social theory, critical theory of law, critical security studies, the relationship between migration, freedom and security in the contemporary world.
