Biography
Ernesto Picardi is Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Bari (Italy) and Research Associate at the Institute of Biomembranes, Bioenergetics and Molecular Biotechnologies (IBIOM) of the National Research Council (CNR). His research activity focuses on bioinformatics and computational approaches to investigate post-transcriptional molecular phenomena like alternative splicing and RNA editing by high-throughput sequencing technologies. He developed the first methodology to predict de novo RNA editing events by RNA-Seq data from Illumina as well as SOLiD platforms, and implemented REDItools, a software package to study the RNA editing by RNA-Seq/DNA-Seq data in a variety of organisms and experimental conditions.
