Biography
Dr. Jieh-Juen Yu, a Research Faculty at the University of Texas at San Antonio, United States, obtained his Ph.D. in Biological Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Yu is a mucosal immunologist and studies protective immunity against bacterial infections caused by Francisella tularensis, a potential biological weapon, and Acientobacter baumannii, an emerging agent of multi-drug resistant (MDR) hospital and community acquired and combat related infections. Dr. Yu has more than 20 years’ experience working with Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases agents (Coccidioides and Francisella) in ABSL3 facility and his research on the vaccine development against coccidioidomycosis and tularemia had led to 3 awarded patents. During his research career, Dr. Yu has built his expertise on genetic manipulation of microorganism, protein characterization, mucosal immunology and vaccinology.
