Biography

Anna Maria Maccioni, Associate Professor, Scientific Disciplinary Group CHIM / 09 (Applied Technology Pharmacology), Department of Life Sciences and the Environment, Department of Medicine, University of Cagliari.

Research Interest

He holds scientific work at the Department of Life Sciences and the Environment - Department of Medicine at the University of Cagliari. His researches are all of an experimental nature initially aimed at the synthesis and study of the structure of substances with potential biological activity as well as the analytical study for the characterization and determination of both quantitative and endogenous substances in biological matrices. He also participated in the development of new instrumental techniques relating in particular to the use of Mass Spectrometry. In recent years, its research has focused on the technology sector in the design and characterization of micro-nanoparticulate and polymeric matrix systems (liposomes, nanoparticles, microspheres, beads) aimed at prolonging and / or modifying the specific site release of bioactive molecules. Particular attention is given to the study of the physical parameters involved in the realization of the above-mentioned systems (interfacing phenomena, rheological properties of polymer dispersions, etc.) that allow to optimize the yield of the final product and to predict some of their properties, such as size, index of polydispersion, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, which are optimal for drug delivery in different forms of administration, targeted at specific sites. Further research concerns the cosmetic field, such as formulation studies involving insertion of microparticulate systems encapsulating functionalizing substances of both natural origin and synthesis.
