Maurizio Atzori

Biography

Maurizio Atzori, was born in 1978 in Italy. He graduated in Informatica with praise in 2002, at the University of Pisa . He holds the title of PhD in Computer Science obtained at the PhD School "Galileo Galilei" , University of Pisa (2006). He was a member of the Institute of Information Science and Technology of the National Research Council (ISTI-CNR) as an associate researcher at CNR in Pisa, and a member of the Knowledge Discovery and Delivery Laboratory . He was visiting scholar or visiting researcher at Queen Mary and Westfield College (London, UK); at Purdue Univesity (Indiana, USA), at Prof. Christopher W. Clifton and his research team; at Sabanci University (Istanbul, Turkey) at Prof. Yucel Saygin ; at the University of California in Los Angeles (California, USA) at Prof. Carlo Zaniolo and his team. Since December 2010 he is a University Researcher and Professor Aggregate at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Cagliari . He received the Google Research Award, Autumn 2015 (co-PI with Prof. Carlo Zaniolo, UCLA). Its funded project Exploiting Structured Queries in Question Answering and Search (Using structured query in question answering and search ) has been reviewed on local sites like Wired.it national (Italian). His work published in the SWWPE12 entitled SWiPE: Searching Wikipedia By Example has been reviewed on international magazines such as New Scientist , ZDNet , KurzweilAI , Communications of the ACM and translated into several languages ​​(including Chinese, Japanese, Russian) and also in various newspapers and magazines around the world.

His research interests relate to semantic web, data mining and integration, knowledge graphs and privacy-preserving algorithms for data management.
