Biography

CARRIER VF was a University Researcher (B03X-Structure of Matter) at the Faculty of Science of the University of Cagliari (1993-2001). From April 17, 2001, VF is Associate Professor (FIS / 03-Structure of Matter) at the same faculty. He earned the national scientific qualification as an ordinary professor in 2013 (VN = 42.63 / 45) in sector 02-B2. VF was Alexander-von-Humboldt scholar at the Schottky Institute in Munich, and invited Professor at Philips Research at the IMEC in Leuven (Belgium). VF was a member of the National Institute for Physics of the Subject (INFM-CNR), where he held various organizational tasks, including a member of Section E. He was the principal promoter and proposer of the Sardinian Laboratory for Computational Materials Science (SLACS), a Regional Laboratory of INFM, and was director from 2004 to 2008. The Laboratory is currently a Research Unit of the CNR Materials Workshop (IOM-CNR), whose VF is associated of research. 4. DIDACTIC ACTIVITY VF has been teaching many courses in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering since 1993, including, in various forms, Physics of Physics, Physics of Solid State, Computational Physics, Physics of Semiconductors, Physics 2 , Physics of Surfaces, and Rational Mechanics, as well as a Mathematics Degree in Economics of Tourism Companies. He currently teaches the courses of - Physics 2 (three year degree in Electronic Engineering) - Foundations of Computational Physics (three year degree in Physics) VF has been a lecturer of about thirty doctoral theses in physics and a dozen doctoral theses, and supervisor of a dozen post-docs.

Research Interest

VF deals with computational physics of materials, with particular emphasis on: new materials for electronic and spintronic applications and for all-oxide electronics; emerging properties of condensed state, such as magnetism, ferroelectricity, etc. related and non-semiconductors and oxides (defects, surfaces, interfaces, phonons, dielectric and magnetic properties, phase transitions, etc.); methods and algorithms of computational physics from first principles.
