Francesco Giuffrida

Biography

- Graduated in Agricultural Sciences on 08.11.1994 at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Catania. - In 1996, she completed a six-month training course at the IRTA of Cabrils (Spain) with a scholarship for graduate studies at university-level foreign universities banned by the University of Catania. - In March 2001 he earned the title of Ph.D. in "Productivity of Cultivated Plants" at the University of Catania. - From November 2000 to October 2001 he received a grant for research collaboration at the University of Catania. - From July 2002 to June 2005, she received a check for collaborating in research at the University of Catania under the research program "Horticultural cultivation systems in horticulture". - From July to November 2003, he received a contribution from the University of Catania for the scientific update of teachers and technicians graduated abroad at Wageningen University. - From January 2007 to May 2008 he has been awarded a contract for a fixed-term researcher at the Catania University of Catania for the implementation of the research project "Innovative methods for greenhouse production". - From November 2008 to October 2014 he was a researcher of the scientific-disciplinary sector AGR / 04 at the Faculty of Agriculture in Catania. - From November 5, 2012 to March 7, 2013 she attended the Lancaster Environment Center (Lancaster University - United Kingdom) as a Visiting Researcher. - Since November 2014 he is an associate professor of the scientific-disciplinary sector AGR / 04 at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the University of Catania. - He is a member of the Italian Society for Ortoflorofruticulture (SOI) and the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) and the Italian Society of Agronomy (SIA). - Referee and editor of international scientific journals. - He has attended numerous conferences, symposia, refresher courses and coordination meetings as rapporteur. - He has participated in numerous research projects funded by different bodies (CE, MIUR, CNR) as well as responsible. - He is a member of the faculty of the international doctorate in "Productivity of Mediterranean Cultivated Plants" at the University of Catania - He is author of about 90 publications. - As a professor, he has held courses in General Botany, Grass Carpets, Recreational and Recreational Green, Biotechnologies for Horticulture and Horticulture. 

Research Interest

The main lines of research are field crop cultivation, cultivation substrates, composting, abiotic stress response, IV quality assortment and fertilisation in horticulture.
