Biography

Winner of a 1-year postgraduate specialization and postgraduate degree scholarship (July 1994), banned by the MPI, at the Laboratory of Agrozoology, Faculty of Agricultural and Applied Biology Sciences, University of Gent (Belgium). Winner of PhD research (XIIth cycle) in "Agricultural Entomology" at the University of Naples "Federico II"; The research was carried out at the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". The winner of the competition, banned by the University of Catania, received a four-year research grant from take place at the Department of Phytosanitary Sciences in Catania; Winner of a scholarship awarded by the Italian Plant Protection Association and destined for young researchers distinguished for the scientific value of the publications. The bursary was used to take part in the Advanced Course on Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Protected Crops, held in Zaragoza (Spain) from 12 to 23 June 2000. On 19 June 2000 the Council of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies having evaluated the curriculum vitæ et studiorum, has expressed a favorable opinion on the conferral of the title of "material expert", limited to participation in the Profit Exam Committee for the disciplines of the Agricultural Entomology sector. Organizer of the 19 th Italian National Entomology Congress held in Catania in June 2002. Winner in 2002 of a scholarship from the University of Catania studies to be used for scientific updating at foreign scientific facilities.  

Research Interest

Molecular Systemic Aphids (Homoptera, Aphidida) Molecular biotechnologies applied to the insect study Psille, Aphids, and Aleirodi's dreaded introduction to Italy. Methods for containing aphid vector vectors.
