Biography
Born on 2 September 1965, he graduated in Mechanical Engineering on 2 April 1992 at the University of Catania, taking his thesis at the FIAT Research Center. In April 1999 he holds the title of Doctor of Research and from June 1999 until December 2002 he holds a research grant. As of December 30, 2005 he is a researcher confirmed in the scientific-disciplinary field AGR / 09-Meccanica agraria. He is currently a member of the College of Professors of the PhD in "Agricultural Engineering" and is a member of the Presidency Council of the Faculty of Agriculture. He has been a member of selection judges for the selection of research grants in the scientific disciplines AGR / 09-Meccanica agraria and ING-IND / 15-Drawings and methods of industrial engineering and was commissioned for technical-scientific and economic evaluation of research and innovation projects presented in the POR-FERS 2007-2013. The didactic activity concerned the teaching of "Agrarian Mechanics", "Complements of Agricultural Mechanics", "Applied Physics" and "Computer Science" in Degree courses at the Faculty of Agriculture; he is currently responsible for the "Environment Management Machines" course.
Research Interest
Scientific activity deals with the following research topics: post-harvest processing of fruit and vegetables; safety of agricultural machinery and agri-food systems; sowing hard wheat in comparison to that carried out following traditional techniques; distribution of pesticides in citrus fruit, on greenhouse crops and on tendon-bred vineyards; transportable systems for the mechanical milking of goats' eggs and for the milking of the milk produced; mechanical harvesting of oranges; IV machining machines; mechanical distribution of arthropods; biogas production.
