Giuseppe Timpanaro

Biography

Giuseppe Timpanaro is an associate professor confirmed in SSD AGR01 ("Economics and Estimo Rurale"), working at the Department of Agriculture and Food at the University of Catania where he holds the title of "Agrarian Policy" in the Degree Course in "Agricultural Sciences and Technologies" and "Markets and Agribusiness Marketing" in the Master Degree Course in "Agricultural Sciences and Technologies". Doctor of Economics and Agrarian Policy (VIII cycle), with an administrative headquarters at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Palermo. He is Chairman of the Degree Course in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies for the four-year period 2013-2016. Other didactic and / or organizational activities: • from AI 2001/2002 to 2009/2010, he was a member of the College of Professors at the "Local Development" (formerly Economics and Agricultural Policy) University of Catania (formerly Faculty of Economics) • from AA 2009/2010 to date is a member of the College of Professors of the International Research Doctorate in "Agro-Food Economy" with an administrative headquarters at the University of Catania (ex Agrarian Faculty) • From 2010/2011 to 2014/15 he was Head of the Department of Agro-Food Economics at the Department of Management of Agro-Food and Environmental Systems (DiGeSA) of the University of Catania; • He has been the speaker of many degree thesis and PhD programs; • has been several times a member of the Commission of State Examination Examinations for the Doctor of Agronomy and Forestry Doctorate - Agrarian Sciences Section, "A" graduates for five years and "B" graduates for three years (2005, 2008 and 2010); • was tutor responsible for research grants in the AGR01 ("Economy and Rural Estimates") field; Recent seminar activities: • "Promoting Young Entrepreneurship for the Development of the Agro-Food System", University of Catania. • "The role of agro-food and rural districts in local development" (University of Catania). • "New technologies serving the agro-food products of the IV range" (University of Catania). • "The productive district in Sicily as a possible model of territorial governance" (Summer School AUSE); • "Ethics, Sustainability and Logistics in Economic-Agricultural and Agro-Food Research" (AISSA); • "Social Agriculture and the Social Farm Network in Sicily" (University of Catania); • "Agro-food chains in Sicily" (University of Catania). Affiliations: • since 1996 he is a member of the Italian Society of Agricultural Economics (SIDEA); • since 1999 he is a member of the Italian Association of Regional Sciences (AISRe).

• Agricultural Economics, with analyzes on various production sectors. • Agrarian Policy, with particular regard to the analysis of Common Agricultural Policy; market and price analysis; agri-environment and rural development policies of the EU; protection and promotion of quality and typical agro-food products; safeguarding plant biodiversity; Social Agriculture and its role in the economy and society. • Economy of the agri-food system, with particular regard to the study of consumer behavior, the agro-food supply chain, logistics and ICT.
