Biography
Maria De Salvo is an associate professor of the disciplinary sector AGR / 01 "Economy and Rural Estimate" at the University of Catania where he teaches "Estimo" at the degree in "Planning and Protecting the Territory and Landscape" (class L21 ) and "Economy of the Agro-Food Enterprise" in the degree program "Food Sciences and Technologies" (class L26). He holds a Ph.D. in "Agro-Food Economics" at the University of Catania and a Master in Economics and Agrarian Policy at the University of Naples "Federico II". He completed his postgraduate education and research activity at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AREC) of the University of Maryland and the Department of Economics Aplicada of the Autonomous University of Barcelona . Previously worked as a research grant and research associate at other Italian universities (Catania, Trento, Milan, Verona). For four years she was associated researcher at the Fondazione ENI "Enrico Mattei" and the research division "RAAS - Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies "of the Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change (CMCC).
Research Interest
The themes of scientific interest cover various aspects of the estimate and the economy of the environment and natural resources. In addition to the estimating methodologies for the real estate sector and the economic valuation of environmental assets, Prof. De Salvo deals with the economic-estimating aspects associated with the protection of biodiversity and agrarian landscape, the sustainable use of renewable natural resources, management of protected areas, the development of agri-environmental accounting models and indicators of sustainable development of agri-forestry systems, as well as economic models applied to fisheries and marine ecosystems, the measurement of environmental externalities of multifunctional agriculture, analysis cost-benefit of environmental rehabilitation projects,
