Biography
Sebastiano Battiato was born in Catania in 1972. He obtained his degree in Information Science (summa cum laude) in 1995 and his doctorate in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in 1999. From 1999 to 2003 he coordinated and directed the research group "Imaging" at STMicroelectronics in Catania. Since 2004 she has been employed at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Catania as a researcher (until 2010) and Associate Professor in Computer Science (since 2011). His research interests include image processing, quality improvement, image compression, and imaging applied to the "digital camera". He has participated in several national and international research projects. He is an expert evaluator of research projects in the international field of research (Research Promotion Foundation - PENEK Program, Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research - NWO Physical Sciences Program) and national (Poli di Innovazione, ...). He is currently a consultant to the Procura of Milan and Reggio Calabria on issues related to the Forensic Imaging. He has published 3 books and more than 90 papers on magazines, international congresses and chapters of books. He also co-invented about 15 international patents. He has been auditing for numerous international journals and is regularly a member of the program committees of numerous international conferences.
