Researcher
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT
University of Catania

Biography

Umberto Anastasi Ph.D., is a researcher in the field of "Agronomy and Herbaceous and Ortofloric Colture Systems" (SC 07 / B1, Scientific-disciplinary sector "Agronomy and Herbaceous Cultures" (SSD AGR / 02) at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (D i3A) of the University of Catania. The scientific activity of Dr. Anastasia is directed to the study of the relationship between climatic conditions, agronomic interventions and herbicidal production characteristics currently and potentially important for the sustainability of crop systems in semi-Mediterranean Mediterranean. In food and non-cola crops (rape, sunflower, flax, cotton, wheat, barley, bean, lentil, cicerchia, medical and other), the possibility of increasing the production and quality of the product through eco-physiological and agronomic strategies adapting to environmental limitations (droughts and excesses, salinity) recurring in southern Italy. He has also been interested in studying soil erosion in relation to agronomic management, and agronomic valorization of refluxes of oleaginous and citrus industries such as fertilizers in Mediterranean farming systems. He is involved in several research projects funded by Italian and European Union institutions, and has published more than 60 works. He also teaches as an associate professor of "Agronomy and Herbaceous Cultivation" (Integrated Plant Production Course), at the degree in "Food Sciences and Technologies" (L26).

Research Interest

Herbaceous crops, colony systems, abiotic stress, environmental adaptability, phenology, ecofisiology, productivity, quality, nutraceuticals, industrial raw materials, industrial residues, sustainability.
