Alberto Bosi

Biography

Ordinary Professor of Blood Diseases at the University of Florence. Since 01/11/02 he is Director of the School of Hematology Specialization at the University of Florence and from the same date is Director of the UO of Hematology of the Careggi Hospital Company in Florence. Founder and Coordinator of the Master in Transfusion Medicine at the University of Florence. Since 2006, he has been Chairman of the Italian Bone Marrow Transplant Group (GITMO), where from 1998 to 2001 he was Coordinator of the Transplantation by Non-Family Donor (MUD) and since 2002 Head of the Gene Transplantation Section and since 1998 member of the Council. Coordinator of the GITMO Study on unprotected donor transplantation after non-myeloablative conditioning regimen. He is author of over 160 publications in international journals. Main lines of research: hemopoietic reconstitution after bone marrow transplantation with particular regard to erythropoiesis, skin pathology during hemopathy and marrow transplantation, infectious problems of the immune compromised patient and subjected to marrow transplantation, study of complications in transplanted patients. Member of the Editorial Board of Seminars of Oncology and Journal of Chemotherapy. President of the 34 Annual Meeting of EBMT (2008). Member of the Board of Directors of the Interregional Interventional Association (AIRT), of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Emaferesis (SIDEM). Founder of the Italian Society for Safety and Quality of Transplants (SISQT). infectious patients with immune compromised and subjected to marrow transplantation, study of complications in transplanted patients.
