Trost. 1987 Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mathematical Physics and Natural Sciences at the University of Basilicata (PZ). 1990 Transfer to the Chair of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematical Physics and Natural Sciences at the University of Florence 1994 Ordinary Professor of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematical Physics and Natural Sciences, University of Florence.
Research Interest
The most important themes of the researches relate to 1,3-dipolar nitron cycloadditions and their applications in the synthesis of natural compounds, aza-eterocycles and aza-analogs of natural compounds. The stereoselective synthesis of compounds of biological interest such as: glycosidase inhibitors imminosoccharides, amino acids, b-lattami, DNA cleaving agents. Synthesis of peptidomimetics and peptide synthesis. Spirocyclopropanic Heterocyclic Chemistry. Synthesis of organic materials with antennas or gelatinous properties, and functionalized nanomaterials.Among the most important findings of the research is the development of an original nitrogen synthesis synthesis methodology through the thermal transposition of spirocyclopropanoisoxazolidine (Brandi-Guarna reaction), and the development of a class of pyrrolidinic polyoxydrylated nitrides for the synthesis of alkaloids and mimetics of sugars.
