Biography
Alessio Mengoni graduated in Biology in 1997 at the University of Florence and in 2000 received a PhD in Genetics at the University of Pavia. After his specialization in the field of ecological genetics and experiences in various countries (Vanarasi Hindu University, India; Vrije University, Amsterdam; Belgian Nuclear Research Center, Belgium, in 2007 he received a position as assistant professor in Genetics at the University of Florence; in 2014 he was appointed as Associate Professor and is currently working on the Department of Biology, and in 2015 he is visiting professor at the Bitoechnology Department of the University of Gdansk, Poland.
Research Interest
I am interested in molecular microbial ecology and bacterial genomics. At the moment my research concerns: i) genome evolution in rizobi; (ii) comparative and functional genomics of Sinorhizobium meliloti ii) molecular microbial ecology.
