Professor Amedeo Amedei (01.04.1971), in July 1996 he graduated with the highest marks (110/110) and praise in Biological Sciences at the University of Florence with an experimental thesis titled " Helicobacter pylori infection: a type of immune response type Th1 ", Conducted at the Immunological Research Laboratory of the Department of Internal Medicine. After a postgraduate internship at the Immunoallergology Laboratory (Careggi University Hospital in Florence), Dr. Amedei began his scientific career with a scholarship (1997-99), funded by the "Foundation" Foundation Anna Villa Rusconi "and which had the object of studying the role of Th1 / Th2 n lymphocytes the pathogenesis of Graft Versus Host Disease. At the same time, he analyzed the specific immune response also in other human pathologies, in particular atopic dermatitis and transplant rejection . In the same period he also participated in the implementation of a project funded by the Sardinia Region, which included the development and production of ovine immune system monitoring reagents. From 2000 to 2002 he investigated the mechanisms that regulate the acute inflammatory process chronic gastric , specifically the role of Helicobacter pylori adaptive immune response - specific in various gastric diseases: gastritis, ulcer, malt lymphoma (Maltoma), and gastric adenocarcinoma. In January 2003 he won the competition for admission to the PhD in "Clinical and Experimental Medicine " (XVIII cycle), which coined after a year because in January 2004 he won the public selection for recruiting a researcher in time determined in the scientific field MED / 46 (at the Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Florence). In the same period, Professor Amedei has been actively involved in the project funded by the Tuscany Region "Developing Stem Cell Therapies and Tumor Immune Therapies".
