Biography

Graduated at the University of Florence in Biological Sciences, with 110/110 votes, discussing a hypothesis thesis on Hygiene titled "First Insulations of Legionella pneumophila in a hospital environment". In the second session of 1988, he obtained the Exercise of Biology Professor at the University of Florence with a vote of 138/150. Since 1989 he has been enrolled in the Register of National Biologists and from 1990 to his special list no. 006193. Since 1988 he is a member of the Italian Society for Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health In 1989 he was appointed Master of Science for General Hygiene Discipline and applied for the Degree in Biology, Degree in Dentistry, Pharmacy Degree Course. Following a public competition conducted in July 1989, he was the first Technical Collaborator (VII functional qualification) in the Department of Hygiene at the Department of Public Health at the University of Florence from 23 April 1990 to 31 October 2001 and from December 1991, in accordance with Law 21/91, was classified as a Technical Officer (VIII functional qualification). Since 1 November 2001 a full-time researcher has been appointed (comparative assessment reserved for graduate technicians) for the disciplinary field MED 42, Faculty of Physical and Natural Sciences, Degree in Biological Sciences, with DR No.688 of 18 / 7/2001 at the University of Florence with an affinity to the Department of Public Health

Research Interest

Dr Our Research's scientific interests are currently geared to the following microbiology research activities for the prevention and control of infectious diseases both in the community and in the hospital. Evaluation of antibiotic resistance of pathogenic microorganisms · Research of Legionella spp. in environmental matrices (water, biofilm, air and soil) in the hospital environment, receptive structures (hotels, health resorts, etc ...) and places of work Study of antibacterial activity of Essential Oils Microbial prevalence studies on dietary matrices · Studies on microbiological quality of food in collective catering Isolation and phenotypic studies of microorganisms such as: Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp., E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus spp., Campylobacter spp., Vibrio spp., Clostridium perfringens, Pseudomonas spp. Studies on bacteriophage production · Research on pathogenic microorganisms and not from environmental origin matrices (food, surfaces, air, water) and clinical samples · Challenge testing on cosmetics, foods, etc.
